The Only Crochet You’ll Ever Need - FALL 2027 LOOKBOOK

Hello there,

With the geopolitical climate being a hot little teapot I wanted to bring a little bit of self confidence to the modern survivor. My crochet Makes this season were created out of angst, perseverance, and little bit of focused meditations activity. There is a lot of repeating stitches and/or repeating sections with a sprinkle of switching between sets for attention zest. We got a Shawl made out of Organic Wool, 100% Superwash Merino, High Quality Sparkle Acrylic, and for a little added punch…Bamboo/Cotton blend :O

A Tie.

A Halloween Shawl.

A Triangle Mesh Bandana.

Cat Ear Hat.

Cable Beanie.

Dog Ear Hat.

Hopefully one of these projects tickles your interest in starting up a crochet project. Most of them are ‘let the yarn play out’ but the shawl design has yarn sections where you can either cut the yarn or learn how to slip stitch maneuver through rows to avoid cutting your yarns. I think my favorites are definitely the Tie, cable Beanie and Halloween Shawl. One is mindless, one feels groovy in your hands, and the other one can definitely be used while Trick or Treating around later this month.

Now Let’s talk about each design’s yarn and you can look for the individual blog posts after this one to get the free patterns for each at the end of each post.

NODAL CROCHET TIE - Lion Brand Yarns

Yarn used for this design is Mandala Sparkle. One cake makes two ties or you can do a Tie and Crochet Cap combo. The generous yardage and simple stitches allow for one skein of yarn to go a long way. You feel successful as a designer because in a 2-Couple scenario one can use the Tie and the maker can keep the Cap or Tie for themselves. Now because of the nature of producing the yarn most of the skeins start at the same color either inside out or outside in. To make this specific Tie pictured and referenced in this post needs to have either the Light Purple on the outer layer or center. I tried a couple Hook sizes when designing this and I also tried both ways of making the signature Tie ‘pointy part’. You can either start at the point part or decrease to form it. I went with the latter and will make my argument that this is the best way to maintain a flat classic tie design in the specific blog post itself in order to avoid having to block or steam or fiddle with your piece.

Harold Halloween Shawl - Cascade Yarns

Looking thru Cascade Yarns catalog I wanted to challenge my self with some solid color blocking designing. I usually go for multi colored yarns because the color itself can play out nicely but I took on the solid color challenge because in the yarn world, solid colors have their place and loyal followers. This one is for you. Three colors: Black, Green, Purple. It gives Poison Apple Witches Brew vibes. The stitches within the design allow for airy, light, yet securely laying feel around your shoulders. An added accidental bonus is that I happened to thrift a large pack of heart shaped snapping buttons that acts as a holder for the shawl to stay “latched” to your liking. That added bons finalized the witchy cape vibe to the entire piece. The Organic Wool of the yarn itself uses your body heat to retain some heat as you wear it or you can use it as padding underneath a coat/sweater to pad the neck and keep the cold out from your chest. This is especially helpful if you wait for public transportation and you need accessories to seal off the heat releasing gaps in your winter outfit.

Triangle Mesh Bandana - Cascade Yarns

One skein projects are a must in this economy. Whether you saved your pennies for some luxury yarns, like this affordable 220 Superwash Wave yarn from Cascade Yarns. the name references the yardage which is 220 yards of 100% Superwash Merino Wool. The color palettes are borderline Marled and really allows for simple stitches to shine through and let the colors speak for themselves. From thermal rainbows to terracotta earth tones to cedar midnights, there is sure to be a color palette to please your choosing for a one skein project. A simple mesh stitch is all you need to keep you mindlessly repeating rows until the yarn is done. With each color change seamlessly appearing as you work your way up, it is enough to keep your attention engaged all throughout.

Cat Ear Hat - Cascade Yarns

Another One Skein Wonder design utilizing 220 Superwash Wave. This time we are creating a hat starting at the brim and working up. When we close the hat in a straight line it will create a cat ear shape effect when the hat is worn. The head fills in the design nicely and, again, allows for the color palette to shine through simple stitches. Finding the right hook size makes such a huge difference as well. I found out that the color changes are more seamless the firmer the stitches are to one another. If you use too big of a hook with loose tension then the color change will be drastically different and more prominent. This yarn shines through best when the color changes are seamless, trust me.

Cable Beanie - Cascade Yarns

Now this design was pretty cool to accidentally create. What started out as using these yarns for a tank top turned into a curiosity for working up a beanie with a half color split aesthetic. The cabling was the accidental part of this. Originally it was going to be a slouchy beanie but as the brim was initially created to be large, after that the silouhette became more textural and also the cable stitches started to take up too much yarn. Almost two full skeins were used and as much as I liked the final effect I felt like it was definitely worth it to use as much yarn needed to create this accessory. Trust me when I say this, the firm squishiness sits well upon the crown of the head. Perfect for travelling and napping with to be quite honest.
